Tech Coordinator - ASP
Designing beyond Games
Sometimes opportunity comes along
For personal/family reasons, I moved to South Korea in 2019. While I was there, I worked with several schools that really wanted to expand their digital offerings and better pivot into the current environment for learning. One school however has actually acted on this desire.
I acted as Technology Coordinator for American STEM Prep in Gwanggyo, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. This entailed developing and deploying their digital presence. Their website was been overhauled to better suit a modern STEM school. As well, I redesigned and organized their deployment of technology in the school itself including unifying their networking, streamlining their logistics, and making the teacher’s lives a little easier by knowing where each piece of technology they may need to use is located in a central storage with check-out options.
The planned development had included better online tracking of supplies and ordering, scheduling, contract/paystubs retention, and other assorted HR needs. This was paired with a digital repo of all of the classroom materials that were accumulated over the years the school has been open. However, I was transferred to their elementary and middle school branch before those projects could be finalized.
At that branch I also helped digitize their library check-out process so they were not relying on old-fashioned slips in the back pocket of the book, assisting in building out and testing their 3D printing and Engineering classes, and introducing middle schoolers to programing such as C# in Unity.
